Integrative Health & Wellness Center Services

At Integrative Health & Wellness Center, we provide patients with natural chiropractic care and a broad array of adjunctive services to help promote healing and optimal health.

Chiropractic care is a health practice that addresses disorders of your nervous and musculoskeletal system. Specialized chiropractic techniques are often useful in providing long-term relief of pain resulting from aging, injury or chronic diseases.

Our Adjusting Techniques

We offer the following approaches at our practice:
Activator Methods®

This handheld adjusting instrument is ideal for children, seniors and those with traumatic injuries as it delivers a highly precise but gentle adjustment. We also have a special Activator table and follow highly specific protocols to adjust a patient. The Activator also can be used to adjust any extremities.

Diversified

We primarily employ manual techniques such as Diversified. This hands-on approach allows us to manually adjust your spinal bones into the proper position.

Drop Table

This technique features a segmental “drop” table. After stepping onto the platform, the table gently lowers you into a horizontal position, which helps preserve any leg length inequality.

Individual cushions or “drop pieces” that are found along the table surface support each segment of your spine until the thrust is administered. Next, each drop piece gently gives way, decreasing the amount of energy required to move a particular spinal segment.

Flexion-Distraction

This safe and gentle protocol is ideal for anybody with a low back disc issue or any other problems with the low back. Flexion-Distraction also can help address tight hamstrings and buttock issues.

Graston Technique®

Graston Technique® is used to treat soft tissue conditions, such as scar tissue and fascial restrictions, helping to increase range of motion, eliminate pain, and restore normal function.

Kinesio Taping

One of the benefits of this technique is it holds adjustments as well as assists your body’s mechanics during daily activities. It’s a highly effective technique that also speeds up recovery time.

Webster

Dr. Whitaker is a member of the ICPA and is certified in the Webster Technique. Developed by the late Larry Webster, D.C., this method helps to release stress on the pelvis, relaxing surrounding ligaments and reducing the sacral subluxation to help restore more normal function. The Webster Technique helps babies to get into the best birth position.

BrainTap

This well-researched therapy uses bio-neurofeedback that can address an array of issues including anxiety, stress, PTSD due to auto accidents, and smoking cessation. Brain tapping also can help those with headaches and patients just seeking relaxation.

We find that those who are nervous about getting chiropractic care relax after being put on the machine for 10-20 minutes.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping has been used for thousands of years and has its roots in China. This treatment involves placing cups on the skin to produce suction which may promote healing. Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This action may alleviate muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair.

Acupuncture

This ancient form of Traditional Chinese Medicine is an ideal adjunct to chiropractic care. We use acupuncture when we see health problems that seem to be caused by disruption to energy pathways in your body called meridians. Dr. Tom is board-certified in acupuncture.

Dry Needling

This modern therapy is designed to alleviate muscular pain. A thin monofilament needle penetrates the skin and treats underlying muscular trigger points for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.

Microcurrent Therapy

This needleless method helps to address certain painful, acute and chronic conditions. The electric treatment can be used in addition to other therapies.

Ultrasound Therapy

Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency, inaudible sound waves to address a broad array of soft tissue injuries.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy uses focused light to stimulate cellular metabolism, decrease pain, reduce muscle spasm, and improve microcirculation to injured tissue. This treatment provides an effective non-invasive, non-pharmacological alternative for pain relief.
